The main objective of the theme of the year 2023 is to secure the commitment of all stakeholders to speed up the implementation of the AfCFTA and fast-track the overall economic integration of the continent.

Mr Muhereza Allan Murangira, the Team Leader of YTJN opined that currently, the dilemma is with Partner States systematically removing tariff barriers to facilitate trade vis-à-vis the same Partner States retaining sufficient domestic resources to enable them finance their budgets to provide essential services to the youth and also contribute to the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund. He implored Partner States to the AfCFTA to double their efforts in curbing illicit financial flows which would boost their domestic resource envelope to deal with this dilemma.
